A Garden Detour
Our first double decker bus ride! We take a trip to the Trentham Estate to spend a day at the massive gardens that have evolved over the last three centuries.
Today the estate encompasses more than 700 acres of woods, a huge lake, and formal gardens along with informal prairies. The modern wire fairy sculptures throughout blend into the landscape more than I expected they would.
The crumbling remnants of the original Trentham estate provide a dramatic backdrop.
As does the beautiful sky. The distant monument to the Duke of Sutherland is one we see two days later while working a lock on the canal.
The colors in the more naturalistic prairie sections are irresistible.
The stumpery section in one of the wooded areas is inspiration for some of our projects at home.
We loved coming upon these carvings.
Perseus and Medusa.
One of the fairies is an awesome warrior.
A double Decker bus ride! That must be a bucket list item!
ReplyDeleteThose wire sculptures are pretty cool, especially the fairy diving into the water.
